The past few days have been surreal. I can’t function. Glued to the news. I want to be there in the thick of it, and this is the closest I can get. Why do I want to be in the thick of such a horrendous situation? Because I belong there. The slaughtering of Jews, the chanting on the streets of “Gas the Jews,” and “Fuck the Jews” (Sydney, Aus.) and the celebrations in the streets of New York City of the terrorists landing by parachute are personal. They want us all dead. They want me dead. And in the most gruesome way possible. Israelis describing being buried under their dead friends and surviving being gassed. That, my friends, is an image from the Holocaust. The HOLOCAUST. #neveragain? Well, again is here.
Make no mistake, a movement against Israel is called anti-semitism. There is no discrepancy. There never has been. I feel safer among Israelis than I do here, among Americans, whose moral compass I am questioning. In front of whom I am afraid to reveal my Jewishness. You have all seen the news and the atrocities that have been committed. And if you haven’t, I suggest you get your head out of the sand immediately. Hamas rules the Palestinians, not Israel. And if you don’t understand that situation, educate yourself. Please consider the Jews and Israel worth your education.
I will surround myself with people who I can trust to not see some fucked up fictitious moral equivalency. Get your facts and believe what you see in front of you. This is not war in the middle east, again. This is not the Jews and the Arabs fighting, again. This is not just another day in the middle east. This is The Jews – the most committed group of social justice warriors – being slaughtered. Again.
Never again? Well, again is here.
